Situated in the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopoldstadt, Praterstern is the main train station near our summer flat, about 5 minutes tram ride, and it carries two metro lines – U1 and U2 as well as both S-Bahn (urban trains) and U-Bahn (metro) networks. The train station is also known for its view of the famous Prater Ferris Wheel.

I was amused by this fantastic german shepherd’s extreme obedience without any distractions (like me making puppy noises) and it appeared that the dog was well trained. In Germany, they are trained by security or the Police and understood commands in German (Deutsche). However, these breeds are known as Schäferhund to Germans. I was a bit surprised that it did not have a muzzle on it required by laws in Austria. Video and photos are taken by Canon G12.

There was a talented toy poodle (they were speaking in East European, I think) that knew tricks. That poochie amused me. What a funny one!

We also met the fellow rescued Spanish greyhounds as well as the independent and beautiful long-haired Borzoi (Russian wolfhound, known as Russkaya Psovaya Borzaya, pictured at the last of the post) at a corner of Augarten Park. It was simply a breathtaking story that these dog caretakers rescued these gentle and lovable greyhounds from Spain since greyhounds were improperly used for hunting, racing and other demented ways. The white greyhound with a muzzle as shown below, was only here for 10 days and tend to be aggressive with other dogs; it was understandable that the greyhound was new to the environment and such.

Taking my white Swedish Tretorn shoes off because of the bloody annoying pebbles from the walk through Belvedere Palace and was snapped by Doni because it was a silly thing to do on a street. It was on Rennweg Street near Santander bank.

Today, we went to this wonderful BioMarkt Maran (about 5-minute walk from Karmelitermarkt a.k.a. Farmer’s marketplace, or food markets), which was probably the biggest organic/bio supermarket/grocery I have ever seen or been to in Vienna (Wien). It has a variety of vegan-friendly products, which I enjoyed the most: from vegan gyro meat to bakery goods to mayonnaise. I took some shots of the food I got from there including this unique vegan bakery good we tried (tofu-chocolate mousse on the light crust with few chocolate chips in it with coconut topping.) I wish I live in a neighbourhood near Karmelitermarkt, it seemed like a trendier area after all. Although, it is a brief 10-minute bus ride from the area I’m living in and plenty of walking. I’ve concluded that I would be going to this grocery very often during my summer stay and I’m loving every detail of this grocery.

Thought I’d like to share some random Austrian/German vegan foods on my first day. I’m getting accustomed to the German language even though I need to read the ingredients with caution. Most products can be found at Billa and the fancier version of Billa supermarkets.
More vegan products will be photographed later this month. I’m going to collect them all in one entry very soon by end of this month. All are taken by my S95, except for the sauerkraut (by 5DMarkII).

My general impression on Le Méridien Vienna was like WOW. I loved it, unfortunately I didn’t need everything there. It was a daily rate from 529€ (~$768 since July 2011) per night. I only recorded the living area of the executive suite at Le Méridien Vienna (known as Wien in Deutsche). I didn’t want to record the bedroom because it was messy
But beautiful view of the quiet centre of Wien
I also photographed with my 5D, which I will show in the later week. They will be visually better compared to the live video I made below:
