Today, we went to this wonderful BioMarkt Maran (about 5-minute walk from Karmelitermarkt a.k.a. Farmer’s marketplace, or food markets), which was probably the biggest organic/bio supermarket/grocery I have ever seen or been to in Vienna (Wien). It has a variety of vegan-friendly products, which I enjoyed the most: from vegan gyro meat to bakery goods to mayonnaise. I took some shots of the food I got from there including this unique vegan bakery good we tried (tofu-chocolate mousse on the light crust with few chocolate chips in it with coconut topping.) I wish I live in a neighbourhood near Karmelitermarkt, it seemed like a trendier area after all. Although, it is a brief 10-minute bus ride from the area I’m living in and plenty of walking. I’ve concluded that I would be going to this grocery very often during my summer stay and I’m loving every detail of this grocery.

Doni and I had the best vegan pizza ever at Forno Campo De’ Fiori. It is one of the well known bakeries in Roma, Italia. We had two different types of pizza: Pizza bianca (olive oil with sea salt on it) and Pizza Rosa (tomato sauce). They are both vegan, made perfectly well and baked fresh (usually about 3-4 euros for one large pizza, depending on the weight). Every other morning during our visit, we always see the same baker (guy) and his fabulous smile. He brings lots of smiles to the customers, including us. We already miss their pizza lots now.

Tried Hot Lips’ vegan pizza for the very first time ($3.00 per slice). It tasted good, but we ended up having two more free pizza slices which was very fortunate!

Los Gorditos is a Mexican (plus vegan) restaurant that just opened in SE Portland (SE Division & 12th). It used to be a food cart about 1-2 years ago, where I used to eat lunch with the folks. The foods were amazing — from los gorditos to sopes to enchiladas! What’s more to ask for?

Will I eat there again? Sure I would, and most definitely, but sadly, the vegan enchiladas (with the soy rizo) wasn’t that appetizing, I would have picked something else, but the soy rizo tasted funny, maybe it was the way it was. I would totally recommend the soy curls (fake chicken) or tofu or grilled vegetables for any of these vegan meals. Great Mexican vegan stuff, really!

Yes. It’s a vegan cornbread cafe. A tiny one parked on SE corner of Oak & 13th, near a Thai restaurant I devoured at in the past few years. My boyfriend and I checked it out and we offered to take photos of their combo meals since they didn’t have any pictures of them!
Check out their website (here). They do have a menu on their website.
Lovely kitchen staff Sheree offered two beautiful main dishes:
1) Southern Fried Tofu (with Agave Mustard sauce) with Masked Taters & Gravy with the yummy Mess O’ Greens
2) Phisk (with Tartar Sauce & Lemon Wedge) with the greatest Mac unCheese plus Sassy Slaw (purple type)
It’s about $7 each. Great comfort food really in local Eugene, however I strongly think the Mac unCheese was the best side dish of the whole combo meal. There’s something tasty about it, really.
